The annual Helsinki African Film Festival (HAFF) is set to screen African cinema in Finland for the fourth year running

Organisers of the festival, which will take place between the 8-12 May 2013 in the Finnish capital, have collated a number of films from across Africa that all have a running theme of youth and power.

“We will focus on the lives of young people across the diverse African continent and diaspora,” said festival director Wanjiku wa Ngugi.

“Everyone agrees that young people are the future of Africa, but what are the challenges they face as they claim their place in their societies – whether they are pushing for political change and demanding justice, finding ways to make a living, or deciding how to live and love?”

Tickets for the festival will be available in April and a festival programme can be obtained from www.haff.fi.

HAFF will also set-up an African street festival in Helsinki's city centre on the 8 May and will screen a set of other films across Finland.
