iROKO Partners has announced that it will be expanding its operations to Johannesburg, South Africa, this year
The office, situated in Maboneng precinct, will consist of a team of up to five people and is set to become a regional hub for iROKO Partners with a goal to develop new business partnerships.
“We’ve come to South Africa to work closely with the continent’s leading media agencies, advertisers and content providers,” said head of IROKO Partners Johannesburg office, Genevieve Dumorne.
“The entertainment and technology scene in South Africa is mature, dynamic and exciting – we’ll be looking to see not only what we can learn from it, but also what we can contribute to it with iROKOtv and iROKING – two of the continent’s leading online entertainment distribution platforms.”
In 2012 iROKO’s African music streaming platform, iROKING, collaborated with a South African-based company for the launch of a mobile music site for GoMetro, the mobile site for commuter rail agency, Metrorail.
The venture-capital backed technology and entertainment firm, which was set up in Nigeria in 2010, operates from Lagos, London and New York and is currently seeking to increase its customer base in Africa.
