As president of Alcatel-Lucent EMEA and a member of the company's management committee, Adolfo Hernandez's prime responsibilities have been to oversee the Alcatel-Lucent’s sales and operations in the region, and effectively position the company’s products and solutions.
Alcatel-Lucent, a global telecommunications corporation, offers solutions that enable service providers, enterprises and governments across the globe, to deliver voice, data and video communication services to end-users. Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent, Adolfo Hernandez worked with Sun’s Global Services Practice and held the position of Senior Vice President, after serving as President of Sun Microsystems Iberia from 2002 to 2006. During his tenure in Sun’s Services, the company witnessed sustained revenue growth and margin expansion especially in the area of professional and managed services.
Adolfo Hernandez began his career in sales at ICR in Spain. He later moved to Germany where he worked with IBM’s European UNIX centre in Munich for five years. After this, he spent six years in London with IBM where he held a variety of sales and management positions in e-Business and worked with various telecommunications service providers. Before his successful stint with Sun Microsystems Iberia, Adolfo Hernandez had even co-founded his own company in the mobility solutions software sector—all which stand testimony to his tremendous entrepreneurial skills.
Mr Hernandez holds a degree in Computer Sciences from the University of Granada, a Masters degree in Marketing Management and an MBA in Strategic Management from IDE in Madrid. He was recently named Honorary Professor by the University of Seville, and has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the University of Granada.
