Digital monetisation bplanetBroadcast solutions company Exset has launched a Digital Monetisation System (DMS) for sub-Saharan Africas pay TV services

The new solution is expected to support those who find premium subscription services too costly, working towards closing the digital divide in sub-Saharan Africa.

Andrew Pons, Exset's marketing director, highlighted the benefits of a DMS at the Digital Broadcasting Summit and Expo recently held in Arusha, Tanzania.

“DMS bridges the gap between technology supply and value-add service creation, facilitating digital television platforms that can be monetized where previously virtually impossible,” Pons said at the event which was hosted by the Southern African Broadcasting Association and BSP Media Group.

“Exset understands that pay-TV needs a new monetisation model for emerging markets in order to succeed,” Pons added.

According to Exset, customers will benefit from new information and entertainment services while operators and governments working with Exset, monetise digital switchover and support the social transformation of sub-Saharan African.

The DMS business and technology model enables pay-TV to be self-financing without relying on subscriber fees for revenue, the company added.
