Samsung Electronics East Africa has received type approval from the Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) to manufacture an integrated digital TV model
Samsung Electronics East Africa consumer electronics general manager, Allan Oyier, confirmed that the firm had received the type rating approvals for its DVB-T2 compliant TV set from the CCK.
Oyier disclosed that ahead of the scheduled switch-off on analogue television signal distribution in Kenya on 31 December 2012, Samsung has unveiled the Samsung ES 5600K model, which will function as a high definition smart TV with an inbuilt DVB T2 digital receiver.
With a built in DVB-T2 Digital receiver, the Samsung ES 5600K TV set will not require a set top box to receive digital Free to Air (FTA) TV programmes and will be available in 32", 40" and 46" screen sizes.
Oyier revealed that with the analogue switch off date looming, Samsung Electronics East Africa will be extending a special introductory price for the Samsung Digital TV with an in-built digital tuner.
“Samsung, understands the African consumers’ needs which inspire us to design and market products that meet such demands. Besides the inbuilt DVB-T2 receiver, the Samsung ES 5600K TV is also factory loaded with triple protector technology to withstand the impact of humidity, lightening and electricity surges through reduced power dependency," he added.
