Software major SAP Africa has announced a partnership with Nigerian IT and engineering company ActivEdge Technologies to enable financial services to expand through mobile solutions across West Africa
”SAP intends to become the platform of choice in mobile commerce banking and a trusted advisor to the banking industry in West Africa. This partnership will allow ActivEdge to build its own intellectual property in rapid response to market demands and thereby, help SAP grow its market share in the region,” said Richard Edet, managing director of SAP West Africa.
According to the agreement, ActivEdgeTechnologies can offer SAP solutions like mobile banking, mobile inclusive banking, consumer payments, mobile remittance, top-ups and other mobile payments.
”With this partnership, banks in West Africa can now enjoy the benefits of a comprehensive mobile platform at an affordable price. The partnership will enable banks to grow their market share, provide flexible and convenient services to the growing mobile customer base and the unbanked population,” stated George Agu, CEO of ActivEdge Technologies.
As a result of this arrangement, the benefits for the banking industry in West Africa will include leveraging a technology built on the SAP Mobile Platform – which is an open and standard-based mobile application development platform, added Agu.
The platform has modules for inclusive mobile commerce banking services that rapidly deliver scalable, cost-effective and secure user-centric mobile apps.
Meanwhile, this partnership also gives banks the freedom to be innovative with custom services through which they can show loyalty, reduce support costs as well as increase revenue.
