Steward Bank has announced it has launched a range of diaspora banking products for Zimbabweans living, working or studying abroad
The product selection was revealed by Steward Bank chief executive, Kwanele Ngwenya, at an event which was held at the Radisson Blu in Sandton, Johannnesburg, South Africa.
According to Steward Bank, the diaspora banking products allow Zimbabweans living abroad to carry out banking transactions from their Steward Bank account from anywhere across the globe.
Econet Wireless CEO, Douglas Mboweni, said more than 1.5mn customers have set-up bank accounts with Steward Bank using the new service in the past few months since it was launched by the bank.
"There's a significant number of Zimbabweans outside the country remitting money to Zimbabwe on a regular basis and carrying out various transactions," said Ngwenya.
"As Steward Bank, we recognise the need to make it as convenient and easy as possible for those in the diaspora to retain direct control of their finances and interests in Zimbabwe, regardless of where they are in the world."
