Nigerian retail bank Diamond Bank Plc said it had launched a chatbot named Ada in a bid to reach more customers

The Lagos-listedcompany said users can make airtime purchases, pay bills and transfer money through the application which is live on Facebook Messenger.

Globally, banks have been beefing up spending on technologies like artificial intelligence and blockchain in a bid to cut costs and improve services.

“Diamond already has a foundation of over 15 million customers, and our AI-driven Chatbot Ada will enable us expand our digital-led strategy, and reach even more people across Nigeria through mobile banking,” Uzoma Dozie, CEO of Diamond Bank said.
