Uganda is preparing to host the Pan African Conference on Science, Computing and Telecommunications (PACT), which will be held from 6-8 July 2015 in Kampala

The event will be hosted by the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, University of Zambia and International Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Gilbert Maiga, chairperson of the organising committee of PACT, said, “The objective of PACT is to support and stimulate productive research, which could strengthen the technical foundations of engineers and scientists in the continent. The conference will aim to develop strong skills and lead innovations for the small-to-medium enterprises within the African sub-continent. We will also seek to encourage the emergence of skilled technocrats within the continent.”

Maiga added that the conference has also invited the participation of research papers, workshop proposals and panel proposals on various topics. Training workshops on software tools such as Matlab, Scilab, Althium, Genesys and COMSOL Multiphysics will also be incorporated into the conference.

The conference will also focus on some of the following topics – devices and mobile phone applications and software, wireless mobile communications (3G, 4G and 5G), sensors and remote sensing, ICT for development, smart grid and energy harvesting technologies, applied mathematics, computer networks, scientific computing, computational intelligence and forensics, environmental and sustainability, radio frequency and microwave engineering and food security.
