Airtel Nigeria has announced the successful completion of a Long Term Evolution (LTE) trial in Lagos

The company said that with the successful completion of the first 4G LTE trial in Lagos, the company was gearing up for tests in other major cities across the country, including Abuja and Port Harcourt.

Airtel added that the Lagos trial has thrown open exciting results as data users could open up simultaneous HD videos on Youtube without buffering.

It revealed, “Download speed, under ideal conditions was 37Mbps, while under non-ideal conditions was 32Mbps. Upload speed was registered at 10.6Mbps.”

Speaking on the success of the trial, Airtel Nigeria chief executive officer and managing director, Rajan Swaroop, said Airtel has been committed to strengthening its position as a pioneer of innovation in the Nigerian telecommunications domain.

Swaroop noted that this test in line with its overall corporate vision of becoming the most loved brand in the daily lives of Nigerians.

“Airtel is passionate about creating innovation to empower telecoms consumers and enrich lives of customers across the country. In the coming weeks, we shall take this trial to other parts of the country,” Swaroop revealed.

In February 2012, Airtel Nigeria had taken a step to deepen its network capacity and quality by announcing the roll-out of its widest 3.75G services across the 36 states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
