Axian Telecom, a prominent pan-African group, recently secured a 5G license for its subsidiary, free, operating in Senegal
This move highlights the company's commitment to advancing technological progress across the nation.
The telecom giant, holding an 80% stake in Free Senegal, shared this milestone, emphasising its capabilities in optical fiber connectivity, 4G networks, and online financial solutions, catering to both individuals and organizations.
Expressing anticipation for the impact of 5G, an Axian spokesperson mentioned its potential to revolutionise various sectors like industries, education, and healthcare.
The company expressed enthusiasm about the positive changes 5G could bring to communities and businesses in Senegal, aiming to collaborate for a more connected future.
Earlier in July, Axian Telecom had revealed plans to acquire an additional 40% interest in Free Senegal, ultimately gaining an 80% ownership stake. This strategic move allows Axian Telecom greater control and financial consolidation of the operations.
Axian Telecom chairman Hassanein Hiridjee stated, "This additional investment reflects our continued confidence in Senegal's thriving economy and expands our footprint in West African markets."
“We will continue to energise Senegal's telecoms ecosystem, focusing on introducing cutting-edge technology and delivering a better experience for individuals and businesses, in collaboration with the strong dedication of all our colleagues in Senegal," concluded Hiridjee.
