Satellite service provider Gilat Satcom has established a new Point of Prescence (PoP) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
The PoP, also known as an interface point, is connected to EASSy and SEACOM undersea cables, which allow Gilat Satcom to provide the area with advanced services like MPLS, stated officials.
The new PoP was established to meet the growing demand from current and new customers in eastern Africa to improve domestic and international broadband connectivity, stated reports.
Dan Zajicek, CEO of Gilat Satcom, said, “We continue to invest heavily in expanding our operations in Africa on fibre to provide complete MPLS services with full redundancy. Our customer base is expanding rapidly because we have a reputation for providing reliable high-quality extremely stable broadband services with excellent QoS.”
The Israeli company has a growing range of fibre routes in coastal and landlocked Africa, and provides telecommunications companies, internet service providers (ISP), governments and businesses with fast broadband connectivity. Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Namibia and Mozambique are among the countries which have access to its MPLS network through fibre local loops belonging to undersea cables.
In addition, Gilat Satcom’s pan-African satellite footprint allows its network to reach the most remote areas of the continent, added the company.
