Telecommunications Service Providers Association of Kenya (TESPOK) has announced it will be hosting the second African Internet Governance Forum (AFIGF) at the Multimedia University in Nairobi, Kenya

The event, which will take place in the Kenyan capital from 24-26 September 2013, will bring together internet stakeholders in Africa to discuss internet activity in the continent and to explore ways the market can grow, TESPOK said.

The forum will welcome organisations including the African Union, the Kenyan government, Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number (ICAAN), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the AFIGF secretariat, TESPOK stated.

According to event organisers, AGIF aims to raise awareness on internet governance to encourage interaction between stakeholders and to stimulate discussion about the needs of internet users in Africa.

Other topics also to be discussed at the conference include infrastructure development, African content, knowledge management internet security, hacking, spam and cyber crime.

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) was rolled out in 2006 by the United Nations as a global platform for discussion on internet use in Africa and Internet governance topics.
