Liquid Telecom has announced that it has selected Ekinops to supply new optical transport equipment for its DWDM network, which will be implemented in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia
The network is expected to provide the longest uninterrupted fiber spans in Africa, Liquid Telecom said.
The independent data, voice and IP provider’s new optical network has been designed to meet the rising demand for bandwidth in the region, the company stated.
Liquid’s growing Pan-African network will provide areas in the continent with reliable, high-speed access.
“Congratulations to everyone who worked on this project, which has set the standard for the industry,” said Nic Rudnick, CEO of Liquid Telecom.
“We choose to build and own our fiber networks in Africa wherever possible, and we trust Ekinops to help us cross the massive distances found in this continent.”
“With our long haul technology we helped Liquid expand their optical network cost-effectively and overcome geographical challenges. Their network will enable millions of new people to connect to the Internet,” he added.
