A collaboration between Bluwan, Somcable and Globecomm Systems that has resulted in the deployment of next-generation broadband access to thousands of people in Somaliland, has been recognised at a global telecommunications award ceremony
Somaliland-based communications solutions provider Somcable selected Bluwan and its partner Globecomm Systems to provide one million subscribers with high-speed broadband access by 2015.
Launched in November 2012, the venture between the three company won the 'Wireless Network Infrastructure Innovation' category at the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards.
"We are absolutely delighted to receive such strong validation by our peers in the global telecoms industry," said Shayan Sanyal, chief commercial officer at Bluwan.
According to Bluwan, its BroadFusion Fibre Through The Air solution has played a 'key role' in helping Somaliland move towards a knowledge-based economy through the provision of high-speed internet access.
"Our collaboration with Somcable and Globecomm Systems has helped revolutionise the lives of thousands of Africans. It has also validated our BroadFusion technology as an innovative and cost effective solution to delivering next generation broadband access in Africa," Sanyal added.
