Sparkle, a service provider in Italy, has moved its Djibouti Presence Point (PoP) to the Djibouti Data Center (DDC) and used it as Sparkle’s IP hub for expansion to East and South Africa

The Djibouti Data Center is the first Tier 3 carrier-neutral data centre in East Africa with direct access to all major international and regional cable systems connecting the European, Middle Eastern and Asian markets with Africa.

These cables include SEAMEWE 5, AAE-1, SEAMEWE 3, Eassy, SEACOM and EIG; other upcoming cables such as DARE and PEACE are also expected to land in the Djibouti Data Center.

The move will enable Sparkle to strengthen the performance of its Seabone global Tier-1 IP transit service providing cost-effective, high-quality and secure connectivity to local and international OTT, ISP, content and application providers. In addition to Seabone, customers can benefit from Sparkle’s Ethernet Suite service to connect different international data environments with maximum flexibility and transparency.

Sparkle’s portfolio of services offered through the Djibouti Data Center includes DDoS mitigation and cleaning solutions, which grant Seabone customers the option to protect their network, and Virtual NAP solutions, which allow customers to access major Internet Exchange Points without the need to build any proprietary infrastructure.
