Airtel Nigeria has entered into a deal with First Bank Nigeria PLC to provide consumers with a new mobile payment solution called Firstmonie Talkmore

The new agreement, for which a Memorandum of Understanding was signed last week in Lagos, will allow Firstmonie Talkmore to run on Airtel platform to make mobile payment services simple and accessible reaching out to more Nigerians in the country.

The partnership is the first time the telecoms giant and the Nigerian bank have worked on a major project together to provide a mobile payment solution to Nigeria.

Airtel subscribers who use Firstmonie will be able to send and receive money, purchase airtime, clear outstanding bills and use other services on their mobile phones without the need for a bank account.

“As pioneers in the GSM sector and leaders of innovation in the industry, we have no doubt that Firstmonie will definitely revolutionise the mobile payment industry and further endear the Airtel brand to the Nigerian people,” said Osondu Nwokoro, director regulatory affairs and special projects at Airtel Nigeria.
