Bharti Airtel Africa has revealed Anwar Soussa as the new managing director for Airtel Chad

The Indian multinational telecommunications company said Soussa, who joins the firm from MTN Cyprus where he served as CEO, will spearhead the drive to provide 3G services in the Central African nation, as well as playing a key role in building the country’s strategic leadership.

Commenting on the announcement, Christian de Faria, CEO of Airtel Africa, said he was confident that Soussa would take the company forward and help it to achieve its goals in Chad.

“I am confident that under Anwar’s leadership, Chad will continue to experience the enhanced benefits of telecommunications services amongst its communities,” said de Faria.

“As the new Managing Director, Anwar will be responsible for revamping Airtel Chad’s commercial capabilities, whilst building a superior network that will continue offering Chadians a competitive customer value proposition around data, value added services and Airtel Money.”

Soussa, whose appointment comes into effect on 1 May 2015, takes over from Salia Gbane, whose tenure officially ends on 30 April 2015.

De Faria added, “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Salia for his dedicated service to the organisation.”
