With a growing number of iPhone users, Vodacom turned to Roambi to support its increasingly mobile executive workforce as it manages a wide range of communications products and services for its mobile network of more than 28mn subscribers. By integrating Roambi into its operations, Vodacom executives are now able to access and interact with valuable business information – including performance network traffic, customer faults tracking, financial reports and infrastructure data – directly and securely on their iPhones, without the need to access a PC or an Internet connection.
Vodacom began using the free Roambi Lite service in June, and after positive results in initial trials recently upgraded to the full-featured Roambi ES for deeper integration into its existing business intelligence system and reporting tools. They integrated Roambi with Vodacom financial systems to display valuable business reports, network probing systems to provide real-time views of the cellular network, as well as statistical Element Management systems to provide trending of cellular network performance. Designed specifically for the enterprise, Roambi ES is a secure and scalable server solution that allows companies to transform their business data and reports into interactive, visual analytics delivered to the iPhone.
“Roambi ES is a valuable tool that gives our executive team the flexibility to conduct business from anywhere,” said Johan Engelbrecht, Managing Executive, Network Management Group, Vodacom South Africa.
“Innovation and enhancing people’s lives are two core drivers at Vodacom, and Roambi helps our executive workforce stay ahead of the curve as we continue to expand our telecommunications services in the African market.”
“The proliferation of smartphones and touch screen devices has fundamentally transformed the workforce as we become increasingly connected in real-time,” said Santiago Becerra, CEO and co-founder of MeLLmo, Inc. “Roambi continues to gain momentum across a wide variety of IT departments that are using the iPhone as a business tool. Vodacom’s use of Roambi ES is an excellent example of how a major communications company is maximising worker productivity by accessing critical information for on-the-go decision making.”
