Glo Mobile Ghana Limited recently announced the launch of its ‘Reserve Your Number’ campaign
The campaign will enable up to one million users in Ghana to reserve their preferred numbers on the Glo Mobile Network. Addressing journalists in Accra, George Andah, Chief Operating Officer of Glo Mobile Ghana said the ‘Reserve Your Number Campaign’ marks the first of a series of launch activities earmarked for the entry of the highly anticipated Glo Network onto the Ghana Market, adding that other exciting activities have been lined up which will culminate in a mega corporate and mass cerebration “like never before”.
“In the increasingly dynamic world of business, we at Glo believe that the customer is the supra-king,” said Andah. “That is why we have decided to commence our launch activities with the Reserve Your Number Campaign as a mark of honour to our customers and also in response to the feedback we have received from the public regarding people’s desire to acquire certain special numbers. Those who simply wish to maintain their existing numbers from other networks can make the porting request when the service is switched on.
“From today, Glo Mobile Ghana is providing the general public with a special Glo SMS-based platform which will enable Ghanaians to reserve their preferred numbers on the Glo Mobile Network’s 023 number series.”
The reservations will be limited to one million requests and shall be conducted on a first-request-first-served basis. In accordance with National Communications Authority (NCA) guidelines on Number Registration, no single individual subscriber shall be permitted to reserve more than five Glo Mobile numbers and the numbers will be activated upon the commencement commercial operation.
The COO said people will start experiencing the Glo Mobile Ghana network from today because the reserve your number campaign is going to run on the Glo mobile sms platform, adding that the full experience of all the bouquet of exciting services on the network will start once the reserve your number campaign reaches the desired threshold.
Andah expressed the profound gratitude of the company to Ghanaians. “To us in Glo Mobile Ghana, the glory of the critical milestones we have achieved so far belongs not only to our Board, Management and Staff but more importantly to the good people of Ghana, traditional leaders and the government of this great nation who made it all possible through your moral and emotional support. We are indeed grateful for your overwhelming support and we wish to pledge that Glo Mobile Ghana will be the champion of values in our products, pricing and service delivery. That is the social contract we wish to sign with you from today.”
He then listed some of the infrastructure already deployed by Glo Mobile Ghana to give people a premium service, including the latest broadband technology, Next Generation Networks, over 1,600 state-of-the-art Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), four ultra modern Switches with capacity for up to 10mn lines with congestion-free service, 18 Base Switching Centres (BSC), 800 3G Node Bs, an ultra-modern Call Centre and 25 GloWorld outlets. This is complemented by the high-capacity Glo 1 submarine fibre-optic cable that connects Ghana directly to Europe with a dedicated extension to the US and a 2,900 km-long network of terrestrial fibre optic ring within Ghana.
“With such a formidable technological foundation, we wish to assure the people of Ghana about the quality and reliability of our network,” said Andah. “We also believe that activating our integrated telecommunication system will generate a chain of direct and indirect employment and business opportunities throughout the country.”
