DT One, a provider of mobile top-up solutions, mobile rewards and airtime credit services, has announced that it has been selected as the technology partner for the gaming company Nazara Technologies to help its user base across Africa by distributing mobile airtime and data rewards

The booming video game industry in Africa comes as a result of expanding mobile phone adoption across the continent with clear opportunities for gaming companies to reach new consumers. Currently, the gaming industry in Africa is worth more than US$310mn and is expected to reach US$642mn by 2021

The gaming company kicked off their launch in Kenya and integrated their games into gaming lounges. Customers can now simply download one of Nazara’s games to their mobile phones, play it, collect coins, and then redeem the coins for mobile airtime.

As a result of the partnership with DT One, Nazara’s customers can receive the connectivity gift and use their airtime to call, text, and access the internet to stay better connected. This solution allows the company to increase its user base, maintain higher engagement and gain long-term customer loyalty for Nazara.

Manish Agarwal, CEO, Nazara Technologies Ltd, said, “Our goal is to drive user engagement and acquisition and through DT One’s network and smart solutions we will be able to incentivise our customers with mobile airtime and data – helping to build our engagement, customer base and loyalty. We will first roll this out across Africa and then plan to expand globally and reach consumers across emerging markets.”

Krishnadeep Baruah, DT One executive vice-president of APAC, commented, “Through our network and mobile rewards solution, we are able to better connect Nazara with their gaming customers and reward them with mobile airtime.”

“This enables their customers to stay better connected and results in higher engagement across their mobile games,” he stated.

DT One’s network spans across 160 countries with access to more than 550 mobile operators worldwide. Nazara is present in 61 countries after a successful launch in Kenya and will further expand the service in other African, Middle East and Asia-Pacific markets. This roll-out is expected to take place throughout 2020.
