Orange and Total have signed an agreement which will provide Orange customers with access to Orange Money, a payment and money transfer facility for Africa and the Middle East

The new services will be available at all Total service stations in African and Middle Eastern countries, the company stated.

Orange customers will be able to transfer money from mobile to mobile, pay bills, and withdraw and deposit money through a group of distributors.

Marc Rennard, executive vice president for Orange Africa and Middle East, said, "We are creating synergies between two major groups in Africa and the Middle East to better serve consumers."

The first stage of the partnership is underway in Senegal and Cameroon and will be present in more than 1,300 service stations in the 11 other countries where both groups are based in the second half of 2013.

Following this, the second stage of the joint venture will enable Orange Money customers to spend at Total service stations using their mobile account.

“This agreement will add a whole new dimension to the Orange Money distribution network,” added Rennard.
