Vodacom Tanzania has said that it is confident it will meet the governments deadline for 100 per cent of SIM cards to be registered in the country by the end of this month
The firm has until 30 June to meet the deadline and 95 per cent of its subscribers have already registered their SIMs.
According to the Tanzania Daily News, Vodacom Tanzania has warned that any unregistered SIM cards will be disconnected after the deadline has passed.
"So far we have registered over 95 per cent of our subscribers and we have increased our efforts to achieve the target [of] 100 per cent," said Vodacom managing director, Rene Meza.
Vodacom had 9.35mn registered subscribers by the end of last year, ahead of Airtel (8.35mn), Tigo (6.37mn) and Zantel (3.08mn).
