Esteemed guests, including the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; his Ogun state counterpart, Prince Dapo Abiodun; and the minister of communications, innovation, and digital economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, are anticipated to attend.

In acknowledgment of the escalating importance of efficiently managed data centers and co-location infrastructure across the continent, Airtel Africa is launching Nxtra, starting with the facility in Lagos.

The event is poised to signify a significant milestone in Airtel Africa's commitment to enhancing data sovereignty, security, and preservation within the continent. With the surge in digital services and the growing demand for robust data capacity, the state-of-the-art facility aims to meet the evolving needs of businesses, governments, and large corporations in safeguarding the integrity and accessibility of critical information and digital connections. Airtel Africa plans to construct business-agnostic centers in major cities across all 14 countries where it operates.

As a company, we are proud to deliver another vital infrastructure to bring the benefits of technology closer to Africans.”

The Lagos location is designed to be a 34MW data center, boasting an impressive PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) score of 1.3 and accommodating high-density racks.

Carl Cruz, CEO of Airtel Nigeria, expressed enthusiasm about officially introducing the Nxtra Data Center to prospective customers in Nigeria's commercial hub. “We are certain that this infrastructure will propel Lagos, and Nigeria, towards a sustainable and more inclusive digital age,” he affirmed.

The Nxtra Data Center aligns with Airtel's unwavering commitment to spearheading technological solutions that empower communities, drive economic growth, and propel the continent towards a prosperous future.

Apart from the anticipated presence of senior government officials, the Nxtra groundbreaking event will also attract other distinguished guests, including industry leaders in technology, finance, construction, and the media.
