Satellite operator Spacecom has been selected to provide broadcast services on Amos-5 at 17°E for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is scheduled to be held from 17 January to 8 February 2015
AFCON is Africa's bi-annual football championship competition, which is being hosted by Equatorial Guinea and organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Teleport and media services provider SatLink will provide C-band capacity on Amos-5 satellite to uplink coverage in high-definition (HD) from the venue. In addition, the company will also provide all ground services for the contribution of the tournament to Asia and Europe.

According to Spacecom, AMOS-5 satellite at 17°E is a prime mover of African sporting events. AMOS-5 provides high-quality HD transmission of sporting events on both ad hoc and occasional use bases, added the satellite operator.
