Eutelsat Group and Q-KON, a leading satellite engineering enterprise in southern Africa, has announced the successful launch of multiple digital banks in South Africa on Eutelsat OneWeb’s LEO service

Bank staff and customers now benefit from secure connectivity, ensuring real-time transmission of financial data. The LEO satellite service facilitates various operational and customer-facing processes, including intranet, SD-WANs, branch online management, data backhauls, Wi-Fi, and ATM services.

Q-KON's deployment of these services follows the 2023 incorporation of Eutelsat OneWeb LEO satellite connectivity into its Twoobii Smart Satellite Services. The rollout will continue in the coming months, addressing Africa’s unique connectivity challenges with bespoke solutions.

“The fully operational LEO installations showcase the utility of the Q-KON Twoobii Eutelsat OneWeb solution in financial services contexts,” said Dawie de Wet, group CEO of Q-KON. “We look forward to expanding this LEO connectivity solution to more branches for the benefit of our banking clients and their customers throughout southern Africa,” he added.

Cyril Dujardin, co-president of Eutelsat Group’s Connectivity Business Unit, Eutelsat OneWeb, commented, “We are delighted to see the impact our LEO network services are having for local businesses in South Africa. Q-KON is a terrific partner, and we look forward to expanding our services for more businesses across the country.”
