Cape Town will play host to more than 8,000 people at the 15th annual AfricaCom conference and exhibition taking place from 13-15 November 2012
Visitor numbers for AfricaCom 2012, which will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, are expected to be up 25 per cent compared to 2011. An estimated 2,000 companies from 112 countries are set to attend, marking a new record in the event’s history.
The highly-anticipated Industry Outlook for the African continent will begin proceedings, traditionally well attended by analysts, telecoms providers and all those connected to the digisphere.
Organisers Informa Telecoms and Media have reported record interest in AfricaCom 2012, with the conference expanding to include all aspects of the digital eco-sphere.
It will this year incorporate a number of co-located events, attracting renowned keynote speakers and contributors such as Patrick Walker, senior director for content and partnerships at YouTube/Google Africa; Peter Vesterbacka from Rovio, the developer of Angry Birds; Nicola D’Elia of Facebook (Africa); Nic Haralambous of Motribe; Alan Knott-Craig, CEO of Cell C and Andile Ngcaba, chairman of Convergence Partners.
The event will host a variety of Incubators and Investment workshops, including a Mobile Apps Dragons’ Den and an Entrepreneurs Incubators Hub.
Keynote speaker
Organisers have announced that Alan Knott-Craig Junior, the former CEO of messaging application company, Mxit, will deliver a keynote address at this year’s conference.
Knott-Craig will talk about ‘An entrepreneur’s experience: lessons to learn & pitfalls to avoid’ when he addresses delegates on Tuesday 13 November.
The address will take place at the Entrepreneurs Incubator Hub.
