Millenium Telecom Centrafrique had chosen Airspan Networks to carry out a 4G wireless deployment in Central African Republic (CAR)
The broadband wireless access networks provider was selected by Millenium provider to initially deploy mobile 4G data services to approximately 1,000 users in Bangui, before expanding service to 10,000 consumer and corporate users throughout the capital.
“With Airspan’s Air4G platform, we will be able to provide the best quality network and offer unique, cost-effective, data services to the population of CAR,” said Millenium Telecom founder and chief executive officer Souleymane Diallo.
“Our objective is to cover the whole capital city, Bangui, with mobile WiMAX and Wi-Fi hotspots in our first phase launch.
“We expect further expansion into additional provinces by the end of 2012,” Diallo added.
Set up in April 2011, Millenium Telecom Centrafrique was CAR’s first mobile broadband operator and will use Airspan’s Air4G macro cell to deploy a selection of user devices such as long-range outdoor, self-install indoor and USB devices.
Airspan Networks president of products and sales Amit Ancikovsky remarked, “Airspan is seeing an acceleration of 4G network deployments and I am very optimistic on our continued growth in this territory.”
