Nigerian-based online television platform iROKOtv.com has set-up a new international content package for its customers in Africa

New content categories on the online platform include Hollywood, Bollywood, telenovelas and Korean programming, as well as the platform’s extensive Nollywood catalogue, iROKOtv said.

According to the television start-up, customers throughout English Speaking Africa (ESA) can subscribe for US$2.50 a month.

iROKOtv was launched back in December 2011 and following extra funding at the start of this year, with the total collected from Tiger Global, Kinnevik and Rise Capital it has raised US$25mn.

The company aims to make OTT delivery a mainstream means of affordable and legal content consumption across Africa, it said.

“We have been passionate about bringing affordable content to viewers across Africa. This is just another milestone towards that. Internet TV will allow hundreds of millions of fans across the continent to finally be able to access awesome content," said Jason Nkoku, the platform’s co-founder and CEO.

“We see the web and mobile platform almost as equal to DTH and DTT platforms in the next few years and our focus is on achieving this in Africa, supplying the 800mn strong population of sub-Saharan Africa with the best content on the planet, be it from Nollywood, Hollywood or Bollywood.”
