Camatica, a facial recognition start-up based in South Africa, has launched Mood Analytics, a facial recognition software to track employee satisfaction

The software can recognise the mood of the employee by scanning the expression of the person. Mood Analytics was launched to boost employee performance in the workplace.

According to Camatica, the aim is to create a work environment that is better able to respond to the needs of specific employees. The company stressed that all stakeholders should be consulted before implementing any facial recognition programme and that employees should always be informed about its use in the workplace.

Camatica’s technology can also be used to track employee attendance.

Laurence Seberini, co-founder of Camatica said, “Facial recognition software can potentially recognise a ‘Blue Monday’ simply by scanning employee expressions.”

“Our product helps companies and bosses understand when their employees are experiencing challenges. This will help companies put solutions in place to help their employees. Through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), a busy boss will understand that a kind word or a warm cup of cocoa is not an invasion of privacy,” Seberini added.

Camatica connects its software to a company or business camera feed through which the feed is analysed using computer vision.
