Forgetmenot Software, A specialist in unified messaging for telecommunications operators, financial institutions and enterprises, has launched its Message Optimiser service worldwide.
Message Optimiser (MO) allows carriers to provide cost-effective, comprehensive unified messaging services (email, instant messaging (IM) and SMS) immediately, without the end user requiring any Internet access, device upgrades, or application downloads. This opens up a range of services previously inaccessible to many customers including mobile banking, mobile educational services, commercial market alerts such as commodities pricing and Government notifications for emergencies. With an implementation cycle of a matter of weeks, carriers can quickly enjoy additional revenue streams, monetising channels previously unavailable to them, and offering a unique differentiator point; an array of value-added messaging services to their entire customer base.
End-users benefit from the simplicity of ForgetMeNot’s Handset Initiation technology, which turns even the most basic mobile phone into a “smarter” Internet-capable, multi-channel messaging device, instantly providing two-way email and two-way instant messaging for both prepay and post-pay users alike. Handset Initiation technology is becoming vital, not only for developing nations where PC and Internet access is very low but also allows users globally to have access to email and instant messaging without the need for more expensive smartphones, a PC or Internet connection. Andrew Smyth, Director at ForgetMeNot Software, said, “We wish to capitalise on the ubiquity of the mobile phone – both ‘smart’ and ‘lowend’ - and its capacity to enhance and empower both individuals and institutions. “The growing demand for and deployment of ForgetMeNot’s Unified Messaging services will enable not only carriers and institutions to provide compelling and profitable messaging services to all of their customers, but will usher in a new era of unparalleled access to mobile and IP-based communications for anyone with a mobile phone throughout the Middle East region and beyond.”
ForgetMeNot Africa, a subsidiary of ForgetMeNot Software, is moving into messaging, in Africa. Two-way instant messaging in Africa is emerging as a big attraction for mobile users; users of Message Optimiser can enjoy seamless instant messaging through a range of instant messaging clients and across any mobile phone, enabling users with a very basic handset to receive emails as text messages and send text messages to email addresses. In addition, MO can be used for a variety of mobile banking and anti-fraud services by financial institutions. Carriers and organisations are not required to upgrade any infrastructure and integration can be completed within several weeks at a negligible cost. There are currently a number of African mobile operators running trials of Message Optimiser with a view to providing all subscribers with email and instant messaging addresses, enabling these subscribers - even if they only have a basic cell phone and network connection - to communicate by email and instant messaging with family, friends and businesses at home and abroad.
