In a takeaway from one of Syniverse’s competitors in the region, Vodacom South Africa becomes one of more than 45 African operators to rely on Syniverse for a myriad of mobile solutions that range from signaling to messaging to roaming.
Syniverse, a leading provider of roaming and messaging services to the global telecommunications industry, will provide Vodacom with comprehensive data clearing and fraud prevention services.
“Roaming is a key growth opportunity for operators in Africa, and we are committed to ensuring Vodacom can maximise potential revenue by offering the highest quality of service for its subscribers,” said Eugene Bergen Henegouwen, Executive Vice President, EMEA, Syniverse. “We understand the unique issues that impact African mobile operators, and provide proven solutions based on more than two decades of leadership in mobile roaming.”
Vodacom South Africa will leverage Syniverse’s Data Clearing House for GSM (DCH) to efficiently manage its data clearing operations. The Syniverse DCH will allow the operator to minimise the resources required to handle roaming accounting, while ensuring the rapid exchange of data records that drive accurate invoicing and settlement, and increase revenue assurance.
The award-winning Syniverse DataNet solution will not only provide Vodacom with protection against roaming fraud, but it also will ensure full compliance with all current industry standards for roaming fraud, including the GSM Association’s Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange (NRTRDE).
Minnie Maharaj, Managing Executive of Wholesale Services, Vodacom South Africa, said Vodacom is dedicated to delivering the best possible user experience to both its subscribers as well as to visitors roaming on its network.
“We selected Syniverse because it clearly understands the challenges we face as a business, and it also demonstrates a successful track record of delivering proven technology and expertise to African operators,” Maharaj said. “We are fortunate to be in one of the most dynamic, fast-growing markets in the world, and Syniverse has helped ensure we have the tools we need to grow our business and keep up with increasing demand.”
