Gateway Communications, supplier of pan-African telecommunications services, has enhanced and expanded its delivery of restored and non-restored IP (Internet Protocol) transit solutions to licensed African operators - partnering with Teraco, a providers of neutral data centres in Southern Africa to facilitate this expansion
Gateway Communications continues to use its hybrid approach to connectivity, incorporating satellite, subsea and terrestrial communications technologies ensuring that carriers and customers receive the most reliable, high quality, fully flexible and scalable Internet capacity.
“Gateway Communications offers local IP peering in most African countries, with a long-term strategy to continue to route data traffic more efficiently within Africa,” says Phil Braden, Chief Operations Officer, Gateway Communications. “We can now offer peering in Southern Africa joining Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia.”
Partnering with Teraco enables Gateway Communications to interconnect with more African carriers and ISPs, providing them with high quality voice, data and value added services (VAS) at a more competitive price. Last month Gateway engaged with a number of South African ISPs requiring IP transit capacity, providing services from its Teraco Johannesburg and Cape Town PoPs (Points of Presence).
Increasing its local presence in key markets such as Southern Africa gives Gateway Communications the flexibility to bring solutions to market faster, move traffic easily between networks and be closer to customers.
