Kenyan mobile phone operator Yu has launched BlackBerry services across the East African country

According to a Yu statement, the new services will enable subscribers to access e-mail, phone, text messaging, Internet, schedule organiser and corporate data applications form a single, integrated device.

Previously, those with BlackBerry’s in the country did not have access to all the services being offered by the smartphone manufacturer, added the statement.

In addition to the new service, Yu customers wanting to purchase their first BlackBerry will be given two months of free service on the new “BB complete plan” by the company from any of the official Yu retail centers in the country.

“The operator will initially offer the BlackBerry Bold 9900, Bold 9780, Curve 8520 and Torch 9800. The handsets will not be locked to the network and customers can choose from eight distinct plans,” the company said.
