Chinese network solutions firm ZTE will partner with the UAE telecom service provider, Etisalat, to invest in the Nigerian telecommunications sector
ZTE ICT business consultant Ahtasham Rabbani said the West African nation was a potentially lucrative investment area as it still had a long way to go in 3G connection and smartphone operations.
Rabbani said that there was a growing need for the Chinese firm to collaborate with Etisalat to improve network infrastructure and weak control on channels in Nigeria.
“To survive in the big data era, operators need to size the business model and build a strong and cost-efficient network. Development of 3G connections involve a terminal strategy and high-tech services. The 3G package needs to be explored a lot in Nigeria,” he added.
Etisalat manager mobile operations, Ashraf Aljaru, said the collaboration between ZTE and the UAE telecoms firm would yield fruitful results due to the high level of commitments involved from both parties.
