US software firm VMware has announced it is to open a new office in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi
The new office – staffed by territory manager Mary Ndirangu, systems engineer Daniel Ndirangu and regional strategic partner business manager Everline Kamau – will serve the firm’s growing East African customer base, as it seeks to expand its presence in the region.
“Business and industry within the African context continues to boom,” said Mark Reynolds, a partner and general business lead at VMware’s sub-Saharan Africa branch. “Markets opening up, industry developing and a growing desire by countries to become globally competitive are all factors that are creating a favourable investment platform for many big businesses.”
African enterprises were hungry for technology to reduce overhead costs and minimise a reliance on exhaustive skills sets, Reynolds explained, adding that “technology… can act as a catalyst to fuel and aid market differentiation, innovation and business agility”.
VMware recently opened another office in Nigeria, following a 2012 decision to expand into the West East and Central Africa (WECA) region, and the company has more than 700 local partners across the region.
