SES S.A. has scheduled the launch of the ASTRA 2E satellite on board an ILS Proton launch vehicle from the Baikionur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan for 30 September 2013
The ASTRA 2E, which was designed for SES by Astrium of France, is based on the highly reliable Eurostar E3000 platform, the spacecraft carries 60 Ku-band transponders.
This enables the delivery of next generation broadcast and broadband services in Africa, Europe and the Middle East from the orbital arc of 28.2/28.5 degrees East.
ASTRA 2E will be the seventh Eurostar satellite in the SES fleet, following the launch of SES-6 (pictured above) in June 2013 and ASTRA 2F in September 2012.
A live broadcast of the launch in high definition will be accessible via ASTRA at the orbital position of 19.2 degrees East, channel 1.037, downlink frequency 11023.25 MHz, horizontal polarization, symbol rate 22.0 MSym/s, FEC 5/6, service ID5221.
SES has 53 geostationary satellites which provide satellite communications services to broadcasters, content and internet service providers, mobile and fixed network operators and business and governmental organisations globally.
