Telecommunications and Internet service provider, Level 3 Communications, has announced that it has extended its Vyvx broadcast services into South Africa in order to meet rising demand
South African broadcasting companies can now deliver live sports, breaking news and other video content to a global audience, through Level 3’s Vyvx Point of Presence (PoP) based in Johannesburg, Level 3 Communications said.
“Using Level 3's expansive African telecommunications and media network, South Africa is well positioned for growth in the international broadcast sector,” said Mark Taylor, vice president of media and IP services at Level 3.
The new services has enabled one of Level 3’s South African broadcast customers, Telemedia, to provide its local broadcast network customers with access to a global network footprint through Level 3's new services.
“Level 3's growing broadcast infrastructure and network scalability is helping us expand our business into new markets across the globe,” said Tom Salmon, manager of Data Services at Telemedia.
“As South Africa’s leading provider of media broadcast services, Telemedia is committed to giving customers the national and international reach they need, and Level 3 plays a critical role in that delivery,” Salmon added.
