Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and International Data Corporation (IDC) have announced that Amr Talaat, minister of communications and information technology, will deliver an honorary keynote address at the upcoming IDC Egypt CIO Summit 2019

Taking place at the Marriott Hotel Zamalek on 18 June, the event will host 300 of the region’s most influential ICT leaders as they gather to discuss strategies to succeed in an era of multiplied innovation and automation.

Combining a varied mix of informative presentations, discussions, and workshops, the 2019 CIO Summit’s agenda has been designed to help regional CIOs rethink how they leverage information, harness emerging ICT solutions, and facilitate organisational innovation to make their businesses more agile, efficient, and productive than ever before.

Commenting on this, ITIDA acting CEO, Hala El-Gohary, said, “In a new twist for 2019, ITIDA in collaboration with IDC will be hosting a Tech Startup Zone on the sidelines of the summit to showcase the region’s facilities and Egypt’s commitment for incubating digital startups, in the areas of AI, IoT, market place and security”.

Jyoti Lalchandani, IDC’s group vice-president and regional managing director for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, added, “As digital transformation continues to reshape the global economy, innovation will multiply, platform wars will intensify, and data will increasingly be used for competitive advantage.”

“And with market leadership ranks being disrupted, a new ICT world order is taking shape, built around innovative technology offerings, evolving business models, and emerging DX use cases. Given this unprecedented disruption, it’s imperative that organisations make the right decisions today to ensure they remain competitive tomorrow,” she noted.

The event will also play host to the ‘IDC CIO Excellence Awards 2019’ as IDC honours those IT leaders that have excelled in conceptualising and delivering game-changing digital transformation initiatives for their organisations.
