Communications Africa was at this years Mobile World Congress which kicked off on 27 February at the Fira Gran Via conference centre in Barcelona, Spain and came to a close 2 March

The event took place under the theme 'Mobile: The Next Element', with the opening keynote featuring leading CEO's who highlighted the short and long term opportunities facing the mobile industry. 

The keynote also looked at how the operator community to play a key role in supporting global economic growth and social capital, with key topics including: the boom in video consumption and the move to 4k and virtual reality, big data and artificial intelligence, industrial and consumer IoT, the road to 5G and the wider impact of mobility on society. 

World Telecom Labs (WTL) was at the event, showcasing its new innovations as well as its VoIP, signalling and rural connectivity portfolio. The firm operates in more than 30 countries in Africa and offers a range of high capacity VoIP and hybrid VoIP/TDM switches.

The company's new LTE component Village Voice and Data (Vivada) was on show, which enables operators to build either GSM and Wi-Fi networks in rural areas, or jump straight to LTE voice and data in addition to Mobile Payment Enablement.

WTL also demonstrated the enhanced network and signalling performance of its innovative VoIP and signalling equipment, as well as a complete EPC with integrated VoIP services. 

Also among the exhibitiors at this year's show was Reve Systems. The company presented its Secured Communication Platform. Speaking about the new solution, REVE Systems' CEO Ajmat Iqbal stated, "we have recently provided this type of solution titled as 'Alapon' (A Bengali word that refers to conversation to Bangladesh Government for its employee.)

"Using this mobile app, government employees now even can intercommunicate through individual and group audio/video calling apart from instant messaging and group chat, short message broadcasting, file sharing and knowing caller's location".
