Zimbabwe will host the thirteenth Innovation Africa Digital (IAD) Summit, this week

Organised by ICT support services firm, Extensia, this year’s event will be held at Victoria Falls and is expected to attract more than 400 delegates from across the continent.

The annual summit acts as a forum for the host nation to showcase its products and services within the digital sector, with this year’s theme - “Affordable Access” – focussing on lowering the relatively high cost of connectivity in Africa.

Zimbabwe’s deputy ICT minister, Win Mlambo, said, “This is an opportunity for Zimbabwe to showcase to the world the country's ICT sector functionality and its cross-sector linkages in the Zimbabwean economy.”

As well as the pricing of products and services, ICT infrastructure development will also be high on the agenda of this year’s summit, along with marketing strategies and public private partnerships (PPPs) in the ICT sector.

Previous IAD summits have been hosted by South Africa, Nigeria and Egypt, and have been used as a platform for major announcements such as Microsoft’s Cooperation Agreement with Ihub Kenya, and the Launch of the second National Operator License in South Africa.
