R&M’s latest developments are a testament to R&M’s growing focus and success in fibre optic data networks and the FTTH arena.

More robust and secure than copper wiring, fibre and FTTH networks enable data rates ten times greater than the fastest rates achievable thus far. In the Middle East and North Africa, several countries have already begun to deploy large-scale FTTx networks nationwide. In Egypt, fibre networks in the last mile are still limited to new real estate projects but are increasingly being deployed as project owners acknowledge the need for a state of the art reliable network capable of delivering future applications for the next 25 years.
As an addition to its FTTH product portfolio, R&M is now unveiling a solution found in no other product currently in the market, a new system solution for single-circuit management (SCM). The SCM product helps with the management of individual fibres and with distribution in the final few meters, allowing carriers to move their broadband projects forward quickly and efficiently.
Another new product are the models in the Venus small distributor range for use as the above-ground connection point for fibre optics and as a house connection point and closure for fibre optics in buildings.
“R&M is already at the forefront, as one of the leading suppliers of FTTH networks in the Middle East. And now with the latest enhancements to its FTTH portfolio, not found in other products in the market, we expect to further our success in the FTTH arena,” said Mr. Ahmed Abou El-Naga, Key Account Manager, Public Networks, Africa, R&M.
R&M’s latest fibre optic advancements highlight R&M’s commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation in the market. R&M, who produces its high-end network components in Switzerland recognized the trend toward fibre optics years ago, and actively invests in research and development in the field. Overall, fibre optic products accounted for one-third of consolidated sales in 2008 for the Swiss company
