A lack of knowledge concerning fibre optic and network products has led to substandard Internet communication systems and is leading to Tanzanian consumers being exploited financially, according to an industry expert
Fumo Communications CEO, Thomas Morawski, made the comments during a one-day workshop for IT industry stakeholders which was held recently in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
"Most customers have been failing to make right decision on materials for cabling thus ending up on substandard fibre optic and networking products with poor performance," Morawski, was quoted as saying by the Tanzania's Daily News.
He added that many contractors have been overcharging their clients and exploiting their lack of knowledge regarding IT materials.
"We are actually providing free education to the public for them to come to a right decision on which quality materials to procure," Morawski added.
