Global communications provider SkyVision has announced that it will provide its IP trunking and private network solutions to Cable & Wireless Seychelles (CWS) to connect the island nation

According to the agreement, SkyVision will provide IP trunking to the main island of Seychelles — Mahe. The company will also provide a private VSAT network to 12 surrounding islands to connect with the main island.

IP trunking is a voice-over Internet protocol and streaming media service. Internet telephony service providers use IP trunking to deliver telephone and Internet services to their customers.

CWS said, “We required a reliable and efficient network solution that would include fibre restoration for back-up, and Internet service with additional back up for our key customers. To meet our immediate needs, SkyVision commissioned its IP trunking service, based on the latest technology developments, enabling a cost-effective solution.”

Dror Limor, V-P sales at SkyVision, said that the company used Romantis VSAT platform to connect the main island to smaller remote islands. SkyVision’s 24/7 network operations centre (NOC) supervises the services, which enables CWS to manage their network and reach operational efficiencies.

“We see an increase in the need for reliable and cost-effective satellite communications, even in countries where submarine cables have been existent for several years now. As last mile connectivity remains a necessity, SkyVision intends to continue expanding its reach and providing its customers with the best suited solution for their business requirements,” added Limor.
