Tunisiana and Alcatel-Lucent have announced a four-year agreement to build a wireline broadband access network in Tunisia

According to Tunisiana, the service will bring high-speed Internet access and high-quality voice and video services to millions of Tunisian consumers and business customers.

The company said that to support Tunisiana, a part of the Qtel Group, in building its nationwide wireline access network, Alcatel-Lucent has provided a complete network solution package, including designing, building, managing and maintaining the network.

The package includes Alcatel-Lucent’s gigabit passive optical networking (GPON) and VDSL2 broadband access products.

Alcatel-Lucent will also provide elements of its motive customer experience solution, the Motive Network Analyser, which will ensure high-quality network performance, and the Motive Home Device Manager, which will allow service personnel to remotely manage a wide range of broadband devices in customers’ homes.

Tunisiana CTO Hatem Mestiri said, “As we considered the challenges of building and managing a wireline network, we sought a solution that is as efficient as possible and keeps complexities to a minimum.

“Alcatel-Lucent’s expertise in providing network solutions as well in the management of those networks has been demonstrated over many decades and made them the best choice for Tunisiana, making sure we can meet the needs and expectations of both existing and new customers.”

Alcatel-Lucent Tunisia country manager Faical Haffoudhi said, “Our agreement with Tunisiana provides an opportunity for Alcatel-Lucent to build a completely new wireline access network in a country that is experiencing a rapid adoption of new communications technologies.

“Tunisiana will be able to provide its customers with the highest service quality at all times, thanks to the unique combination of Alcatel-Lucent’s fixed access assets and our proven expertise in customer experience.”
