Fundamos Enterprise Edition Platform has won the Best Mobile Payment Product of the Year at the 2013 Card and ePayment Africa Awards

The company, part of the Visa Inc. group, was recognised at the annual ceremony in Johannesburg, South Africa, which aims to honour outstanding and innovative industry products and practitioners.

"We feel honoured that our platform has been selected by such a respected panel of judges as the best mobile payment product in Africa,” said Aletha Ling, COO at Fundamo.

"We have invested 12 years of expertise and experience into a platform that continues to evolve through in-depth and on-going collaboration with clients, partners and the wider industry."

According to Ling, the Enterprise Edition Platform is the world's most widely deployed platform, supporting 27 mobile money services in 19 countries across Africa.

"We look forward to helping our clients meet the growing demand for mobile financial services driven by the needs of millions of consumers in Africa that do not have a formal bank account,” Ling added.

Fundamo launched the first emerging market mobile financial service in 2002 with Celpay in Zambia, and now powers more than 50 of the 160 live services available across the globe.
