Openet recently announced that one of South Africa’s leading fixed-line and fixed-broadband telecom providers deploys its Policy and Charging Control (PCC) architecture.

This architecture enables the operator’s mobile division to create and monetise new personalised services and maximise the value of the operator’s new 3G network.

Operators are facing simultaneous challenges both to simplify billing plans in order to win more subscribers and reduce costs, and to evolve their OSS/BSS to take advantage of next generation services, networks and new business models.

By moving more intelligence to the network edge, Openet's policy management tool enables operators to exert more control over subscriber entitlement to network resources and service monetisation. This way they are able to maximise profitability for the operator while allowing for better quality of experience for the subscriber.
