South Africas MTN has launched three new BlackBerry service plans for instant messaging services such as BBM, emails, browsing and social networking
The first plan, BlackBerry Messaging Plan for ZAR 14.95 (US$1.80), will allow customers to access BBM and one web-based email account. The second scheme, BlackBerry Social Plan for ZAR 19.95 (US$2.41), will enable customers to use social networks, download applications, browse the Internet and use BBM services.
The third plan, BlackBerry Social and Email Plan, at ZAR 29.95 (US$3.61) per month, is for customers who want to use BBM, web browsing, email and social networking.
Chief marketing officer at MTN South Africa, Serame Taukobong, said, “MTN understands its customers’ needs and is able to tailor unique packages to meet these needs. Users can now choose from the plan that best suits them.
“There are many BlackBerry users who do not have the BlackBerry Internet Service activated for a variety of reasons and this led MTN to introduce new plans to address a range of unique customer requirements. These three packages will offer choices to customers and empower them with a customised cellular service to meet their specific needs,” added Taukobong.
The existing BlackBerry Internet Service plan will still be available on the MTN network.
“The new BlackBerry service plans have been made available to customers right after their launch on the MTN network,” said Taukobong.
The BlackBerry Messaging Plan and BlackBerry Social Plans have a data allowance of 10MB each, while the BlackBerry Social and Email Plan has a 25MB data allowance.
