Russian-based Gazprom Space Systems has announced a new partnership with SpeedCast International Limited, a global satellite telecommunications service provider
The partnership will enable SpeedСast to use GSS’s Yamal-402 Ku-band satellite to provide services to global oil and gas companies across Africa.
SpeedCast calls itself a leading global network and satellite communications service provider offering managed networks services in more than 90 countries; along with a global maritime network.
"Customers will benefit from the high-performance and excellent look angles for Africa offered by the Yamal-402 satellite. With the uplink based in Germany, customers will be able to land their traffic directly into Europe, taking advantage of high-speed interconnection throughout Europe," said Gazprom's website.
Gazprom Space Systems operate the Yamal Satellite Communications System consisting of four satellites (Yamal-202, Yamal-300K, Yamal-401 and Yamal-402) and advanced ground telecommunications infrastructure.
Yamal satellite capacity is provided either on a regular or on a temporary basis (a one-time, short-time use, frequent regular use). Customers may lease either a whole transponder or a part of it.
Dmirty Sevastiyanov, director general of Gazprom, said he was 'pleased' with the new partnership.
He added, “Our partnership with SpeedCast will further strengthen our common ability to deliver the reliable and efficient broadband and mobile connectivity that energy companies demand nowadays.”
