Nigerian Ministry of Science and Technology has announced that the country would launch its first ‘Made-in-Nigeria’ satellite in 2018

Abdu Bulama, minister of science and technology of Nigeria, said that the National Space Research and Development (NASRDA) would facilitate the building and launching of the ‘Made-in-Nigeria’ satellite.

“The African economy, I believe in the last couple of years, has shown a remarkable sign of growth. However, this growth is unfortunately more of community drive and not of the manufacturing sector.

“For this, growth to be sustained and for it to be transformed into a real national transformation agenda for the development of the nation, it must be productivity-based. By this, Nigeria in the nearest future will be an acknowledged member of the fast developing scientific and technologically progressive nations of the world,” added Bulama.

The minister noted that the ministry would play an effective role as a strategist and coordinator of all the research and development activities in the country.
